Talleres para niños en Santiago

How this list is put together and where its facts come from

Where the facts come from

We read each place’s website and note what it says it offers children: ages, the weekly timetable, prices with the period they cover, languages, trial classes and whether an adult has to stay.

The address, the map point and the opening hours can also come from the place’s Google Maps listing. For a sports club, membership of a federation or association can come from the list of clubs that body publishes.

Every fact is stored with the address of its page, the date we read it and a short quote in that page’s own words. Directories, news, booking platforms, social media and reviews are never used as sources.

Source labels

Each source carries one of three labels. Published by the place: its own website. Google listing: its entry on Google Maps. Federation list: the club list of a sports federation or association.

On a place’s page the label and the date stand next to each fact, so you can see who said it and how recent it is.

When a fact is missing

If the pages we read do not give a fact, the place’s page marks it as not published and the table shows a dash. “Not published” refers only to those pages.

We never fill a gap by guessing. A school year, such as kínder or tercero básico, is not turned into an age. Each price keeps the period the place gives; the only sum we do is the ≈ price per class, the price of a pack or a whole taller divided by the number of classes it includes.

Class times and opening hours

The table has two time columns. Class times: the days and hours of a taller, an afternoon of care or a day of camp, as the place publishes them. Opening hours: when the branch is open, often taken from its Google listing.

A branch can be open at an hour when no group for a given age meets. A row with only opening hours goes below the line, under a heading that says why.

The after-school pages look at weekdays from 16:00 to 19:30: from the end of the full school day (jornada escolar completa) to the hour when many families pick their children up. A taller counts when one of its groups starts inside that span; care counts when its hours, extended hours included, cover all of it.

What we do not judge

  • No place, teacher, coach or programme gets a grade, a score or a rank.
  • We do not visit the places; every fact comes from a published source.
  • We do not judge how well a place teaches, coaches or cares for children.
  • We cannot tell whether a group still has room; ask the place.
  • We do not check municipal permits, insurance or the register of people barred from working with children.
  • Prices are shown as published, with their period and date, without confirming them with the place.

Right of reply

Do you run a listed place and see a fact that is wrong, incomplete or old? Send the right one through the update form with a link to the page where it appears.

A correction backed by the place’s own pages goes in at the next update and is noted in the change record. A place that closes keeps its page, marked closed, and leaves every table.

You can also ask for a place you run to come off the list: choose “Ask for a place to come off the list” on the update form and leave a contact that shows you run it. Within a month we remove the place, its page and its rows in the data files.

Dates and updates

Each place’s sources are read again within 6 months of the last reading. A price published for a period that has ended stays on the place’s page with that period, and neither the filters nor the summary line count it.

How it is funded

Places do not pay to appear, and no payment changes a row or its position in the table.

A place’s page may carry a link to Zartrace, a service affiliated with this catalogue and marked as such. Clicks on contact buttons are counted only as totals, with no personal data.

Open data

The whole catalogue can be downloaded as JSON, one record per place, and as CSV, one row per programme. Both files include every source, label and date, and state their licence.

Comunas, distance and the map

Areas are the comunas of Greater Santiago: those of the Provincia de Santiago plus Puente Alto and San Bernardo. The comuna of Santiago is listed as Santiago Centro, the name families use to tell it apart from the city. A branch belongs to the comuna whose boundary holds its map point; a branch in a comuna outside the city, such as Pirque or Padre Hurtado, belongs to that comuna.

Distance is measured in a straight line from the point you choose to the nearest branch and rounded to the half kilometre. Your location is requested only when you press the button, and it stays in your browser.

A point placed from an address is approximate. Map data and comuna boundaries © OpenStreetMap contributors.
